The Lonely City by Olivia Laing explores the connection between isolation and creativity, for it is one of the struggles that I go through from time to time. Researching the work of Edward Hopper & Andy Warhol, Laing suggests we should all be a little less frightened of being alone.
I live alone and from time to time I have my ‘down’ times, it often triggered by my ambitions, worries about the future and the overwhelming feelings of a long list of tasks that at times seems impossible to complete.
The idea of exploring these feelings within myself has resulted in creating ‘Embrace’.
